IB (INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE)

WELCOME TO THE IB SCHOOL AT KABOJJA INTERNATIONAL

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to our IB community. At Kabojja International School, our mission is clear: to provide a safe, supportive environment where every student feels valued and can thrive both academically and personally. We believe that when children feel secure, they grow into confident, curious, and resilient learners who are ready to meet the challenges of our ever-changing world.

Through the International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes, we nurture well-rounded students who not only achieve academic excellence but also develop the skills, values, and international-mindedness needed to succeed beyond the classroom. Our learners are encouraged to think critically, act responsibly, and approach life with confidence and compassion.

Choosing IB means choosing an education that is future-focused. With an emphasis on inquiry, global perspectives, and real-world problem solving, the IB equips students to navigate complexity and make meaningful contributions to society.

We are proud to offer the full continuum of IB learning: Early Years, Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and now, as a candidate school for the Diploma Programme (DP), we are preparing to complete the journey through to graduation. This pathway ensures that our students are supported from their earliest years right through to the doorway of university and beyond.

I warmly invite you to join us on this exciting journey where students are empowered to become lifelong learners, compassionate leaders, and confident citizens of the world.

Sincerely

Anna Sundell,
Head of IB School

Welcome to Kabojja International School –

An IB World School

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

At Kabojja International School, we are proud to be authorized to offer the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP), and we are now a candidate school for the Diploma Programme (DP). This milestone reflects our commitment to providing a world-class education that nurtures the whole child.

Our teaching and learning are child-centered and inquiry-based, encouraging students to ask questions, think critically, and take ownership of their learning journey. Beyond academic excellence, we focus on developing essential Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills—such as research, communication, collaboration, and self-management—that prepare students for success in life.

As we prepare to offer the IB Diploma Programme, our students will engage with the DP Core—the Extended Essay (EE), Theory of Knowledge (TOK), and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS)—which deepens their learning, strengthens their critical thinking, and inspires them to take meaningful action.

Guided by the IB Learner Profile, our students grow to be caring, open-minded, principled, and reflective individuals who apply their knowledge and skills in meaningful ways, both within the school and in the wider world. With this strong foundation, we expect our graduates to gain entry into leading international universities across the globe and to thrive as global citizens.

Together, we are shaping future-ready learners who will contribute positively to local and global communities.

Warm regards,

Tom Mboya Puro,
IB Coordinator

Kabojja is now an IB World School

At Kabojja, the International Baccalaureate is a journey of growth – from curiosity in the early years to confidence in the Diploma Programme. Each stage inspires students to think critically, act responsibly, and care deeply for their world.

In the PYP, children learn through inquiry and creativity, discovering connections across subjects while building the IB Learner Profile. Their journey culminates in the PYP Exhibition, where they proudly share their research and action on global issues.

In the MYP, students take greater ownership of their learning. They connect ideas across disciplines, engage in Service as Learning, and pursue passions through the Personal Project, developing independence and responsibility.

In the DP (now a candidate school), our oldest students prepare for university and beyond through the IB Core: Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay, and CAS. They grow as thinkers, leaders, and changemakers – ready to thrive in an interconnected world.

Across all programmes, the IB spirit shines through cultural celebrations, leadership opportunities, service projects, sports, and the arts. Together, these experiences nurture internationally minded young people who are equipped not just for success, but for significance.

What is IB ?

The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a globally recognized educational program offering rigorous, high-quality curricula for students aged 3 to 19. It focuses on developing critical thinking, creativity, and intercultural understanding, preparing students for success in higher education and beyond.

The IB includes four programs: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), Diploma Programme (DP), and Career-related Programme (CP). Known for its holistic approach, the IB emphasizes academic excellence, personal growth, and global citizenship.

Mission Statement from the IB

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

CURRICULUM

Primary Years Programme (PYP)

The PYP marks the start of a lifelong journey. It develops caring and culturally aware children aged 3 – 12 to become active participants in their own learning. The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), for students aged 3 to 12, focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside. The PYP is transdisciplinary and flexible enough to accommodate the demands of most national or local curriculums and provides the best preparation for students to engage in the IB Middle Years Programme.

Middle Years Programme (MYP)

The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), for students aged 11 to 16 provides a framework of learning which encourages students to become creative, critical and reflective thinkers. The MYP emphasizes intellectual challenge, encouraging students to make connections between their studies in traditional subjects and to the real world. The MYP is flexible enough to accommodate

the demands of most national or local curriculums. It builds upon the knowledge, skills and attitudes developed in the PYP and prepares students to meet the academic challenges of the IB Diploma Programme and the IB Career-related Programme.

Students develop their personal understanding, their emerging sense of self and responsibility in their community.

MYP teachers organize the curriculum with appropriate attention to:

• Teaching and learning in context.

• Conceptual understanding. Concepts are big ideas that have relevance within specific disciplines and across subject areas.

MYP students use concepts as a vehicle to inquire into issues and ideas of personal, local and global significance and examine knowledge holistically.
